Coffee is at the heart of what we do. To help ensure the quality and integrity of every cup, depends on a sustainable supply chain that supports thriving farming communities and healthy ecosystems. This means we make careful choices about the coffee we buy, working with trusted partners and certification standards such as the Rainforest Alliance, to source our famous beans to their standards.
Costa Coffee x Rainforest Alliance
The coffee beans we source in the UK are Rainforest Alliance Certified. This means that for every cup of coffee we deliver, we invest back into the coffee-growing communities that help make our coffee possible.
The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organisation whose goal is to create a more sustainable future by using social and market forces to protect nature and improve the lives of farmers and forest communities.
By sourcing our beans from Rainforest Alliances Certified farms, we help to support the people and places behind the coffee that you enjoy.

Since 2020, we've been a member of The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and since then we have been working towards ensuring that 100% of the palm oil and derivative used within our own-label products in Great Britian is RSPO certified (either segregated or mass balance).
Animal Welfare
Dairy
We work closely with our suppliers, to ensure consistent animal welfare standards across our supply chains and engage in their sustainability initiatives that help drive forward farming practice to reduce carbon emissions.
Cage-free eggs
We continue to collaborate with our suppliers and partners around the world to increase our sourcing of cage-free eggs. Currently, 77% of eggs used in our globally sourced products are cage-free*.
We have made significant progress in the three markets that make up 100% of our company-owned stores globally;
In the UK** and the US, 100% of eggs used in our products are cage-free.
In China, which is our biggest international company owned market, our suppliers have completed the transition to use cage-free eggs in the products they sell to Costa.
In many European markets, progress continues year-on-year. Alongside the rest of the industry, we have faced challenges in regions where the supply of cage-free eggs is more limited. In response, we are actively working with suppliers and stakeholders to identify and prioritise viable supply chain solutions, including the appropriate use of egg credits.
