To demonstrate our on-going commitment to improve the social and economic welfare of our coffee growers, in addition to a direct donation from Costa, we've launched a variety of ways to raise funds for the Costa Foundation.
- National centrally-driven campaigns
- Store fundraising activities
- Individual team member fundraising
- Customer over-the-counter donations during national campaigns
- Payroll Giving contributions
- Sale of product
- Donations from partner organisations
Whitbread/Costa also match pound for pound all store fundraising activity
Individual donations can also be increased through Gift Aid. Gift Aid is a government-led initiative that allows charities such as the Costa Foundation to reclaim the basic rate income tax on donations made to them by UK taxpayers who sign a Gift Aid declaration.

Roadshow cash will fund half the bill for Anatoli playground
The Costa Foundation has provided additional financial support for a playground for children at the Anatoli School in La Mesa, Colombia.
The building of the school was the first project undertaken by the Foundation, and when they saw the result, store managers at the UK Retail Roadshow donated 1,115 pounds to provide somewhere for the children to play. This grew to 1,865 pounds thanks to the Whitbread Match Funding scheme. The playground has now been completed and is being used daily by the children of La Mesa.
Whitbread Food Development team step up to the plate
Whitbread's Food Development team rose to the fund-raising challenge at Costa's Head Office in Dunstable by holding a crockery sale for all employees based there. Surplus plates, saucers, bowls, cups and cooking pans flew out of the door, raising an admirable £390.61 for the Costa Foundation.
Three Peaks Challenge
20 intrepid Costa managers climbed mountains (or peaks) to raise a staggering £24,000 for the Costa Foundation. The challenge involved climbing the three tallest peaks in the UK at Ben Nevis, Skafell Pike and Snowdon one after the other. The weather was far from kind, yet the teams still managed not only to complete the task, but also to brew fresh espresso coffee at the top of each peak (Costa coffee of course). The funds were used for the Mushasha Primary School phase 2 project in Uganda, directly benefitting over 100 children and 3 teachers.
