Costa

Project status: Current
Following the successful completion of Kilenso Rasa High School, the Costa Foundation started work on its second Ethiopian project in November 2008.

Dimtu Hambela High School will be the first ever High School in this region and will soon have two new blocks and a total of 8 new fully furnished classrooms that will change the lives of 970 children and 29 staff. All the rooms will be fully furnished, and new text books will be provided for all students.

There will also be two new toilet blocks.

Pupils attending the new High School will come from 6 of the feeder schools within a 35 km radius of Hambela Warana. For many of the parents living within this community, their children will be able to enjoy the higher education opportunity that they themselves never had and many have expressed an interest in attending adult evening classes to make up for lost time.

Currently, the nearest High School to Hambela Warana is 75 kms away which makes access to a higher education impossible for the 16,570 households within its catchment area. Once completed, this project will provide vital education and a brighter future for these communities' children and in the future, for their children's children too.
